The Images

Greatham Works

Shot from the bank of Greatham Creek looking north towards Huntsman Pigments’ Greatham Works at Seal Sands, which manufactures the pigment Titanium Dioxide. Click here to view the image.

Nitram, Haverton Hill

Looking west across the River Tees, a view of the ‘Nitram’ plant and iconic ‘ICI Tower’, a prilling tower used to solidify the liquid product for use as a fertiliser. Now operated by CF Fertilisers. Click here to view the image.

Industrial Twilight

Unmistakeable Teesside, but maybe from an unfamiliar angle? This is the view from 242 metres above sea level from Eston Nab, looking north over much of Middlesbrough, Norton and Billingham. Click here to view the image.

Olefins 5 & 6

Shot from Eston Nab looking north-east across Wilton Site - this image shows two generations of Ethylene Crackers, the newer of which, commissioned in 1978 and now operated by SABIC UK Petrochemicals Ltd., is still in operation and produces approx. 1 million tonnes of hydrocarbons each year. Click here to view the image.

Wilton and Greystones Roundabout

Looking north-east over A174/Greystones Roundabout and Wilton International Site. In view are three chemical plants built since 2005, which manufacture (left-right) Bioethanol, Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) and Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE); operated by Ensus Ltd., Lotte Chemical UK Ltd. and SABIC UK Petrochemicals Ltd., respectively.
